About us

We're Building Money That Moves Like a Text Message

AutoPayKe is a phone-number-first money app for Africa. Your number is your account: no email, no password, no seed phrase. The settlement technology underneath stays out of your way. You just see your balance and where your money went.

Why

Sending Money Home Should Not Take Three Days

Moving money across African borders still means correspondent banks, SWIFT codes, branch visits and $5–$15 in fees for a transfer that takes one to three business days. Meanwhile almost everyone already has a phone number and a mobile money account.

So we built the shortest path between those two facts: type a phone number, type an amount, and the money settles in seconds on the rail the recipient already uses. The settlement layer that makes it fast stays invisible.

How we work

Honest About What Is Live

Fintech marketing tends to describe roadmaps in the present tense. We'd rather not. Every feature on this site is labelled by what it actually does today, and anything still in build says so, including on our own pricing and coverage pages.

Send to any phone number

Live

Live in Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria and Uganda. Non-users get a claim link and 7 days before an automatic refund, except in Nigeria, where claim payouts are still being finished.

Funds you control

Live

Every user gets their own secure, self-custodied account, deployed automatically on first login.

Withdraw & Merchant Pay

Live

Withdraw is live wherever Send is. Merchant Pay is live in Kenya today (Till and PayBill), with more markets rolling out as partner coverage is confirmed.

Agent permissioning

Foundation

We're building the spending limits, allowlists and audit trail that would let software agents move money safely. Nothing user-facing yet.

The company

AutoPayKe Limited

Compliance status shown here is current as of this page's last update and will change as processes complete.

AutoPayKe Limited is incorporated under the laws of Kenya and operates from Nairobi. We are a payments technology provider, not a bank: local currency payouts are executed by licensed mobile money and banking partners in each market.

Our PSP licensing conversation with the Central Bank of Kenya and our data protection registration with the ODPC are both in progress. We do not describe ourselves as licensed or regulated until those are finalised, and we won't claim a completed smart contract audit until one exists.
